Last week I participated in the challenge over at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers .  Would you believe I won! LOL. See previous post for the card I made. Well this week I was asked to create a card/project for the next challenge. The challenge is all about 50 shades of Grey and here is my take on it. I hope you enjoy!!

So cold.

Alright,  so,  a friend of mine does some work for a cool blog. I had seen a picture on facebook with this saying that I though would be perfect for a challenge that the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is hosting. The challenge is W is for Wow it's cold. Here is a LINK to their challenge. Here is my take on the challenge.

The image I printed from google and coloured with alcohol markers. I used an embossing folder for the background and "tried" to ink the snowflakes with silver, but I just ended up making a mess! LOL, oh well, I still like. The "censored" is another google image that was printed.
Well, what do you think?? I like it, nails my sense of humour!

Pocket pages and less stress!

Alright, so here is my long winded post about project life style pages. I love them for outings, activities, celebrations where I take a million and one photos. I do not do weekly pages(but am going to start monthly pages), I do mostly do 12x12 layouts but.....I take all these pics at these events because I like to document say, who was at my daughters 5th birthday party, or document the million and one animals at the zoo. I got tired of only scrapping a few photos from each event so I started using pocket page for the big events(I still do a couple of 12x12 layouts of each event). I sort them into my albums chronologically mixed in with all my 12x12 layouts. I am really loving how it all turns out. I am able to do my 12x12's which I love and the PL style pages and am able to document everything within a few page protectors. This is working for me, I am very happy about it.

The one thing that I was struggling with was planning and editing of the pocket pages. I have a few styles and like the selection. I do not like editing photos and making sure they are printed into the sizes I want(i.e. 3x4, 4x4, etc. etc).  After being in a few of  Project Life groups and reading/seeing what all you wonderful ladies do and the process of how you do it I have made myself a template to plan PL pages. I am hoping this makes the editing/printing process faster and less stressful. That being said I am hoping I am not alone in getting frustrated with the planning so I am definitely willing to share the file for anyone that is interested.

This is the file that I have created. It is an excel file. For the life of me I do not know how to upload it here for you to download so if you would like a copy please email me here and I will send you the file. Also, if you use this and have any ideas on how to make it better, please let me know. I kept it very plain as I didn't want a section for every little detail in there. There are faint lines in the 12x12 square so that I can just add divider lines depending on what page style I am using. I am hoping this will be a useful tool when planning and would genuinely love your feedback!!

After some feedback I have made another one for double pages. Just make sure to print it in landscape.

Please click follow on my blog as I promise I am going to be updating it at least weekly from now on!!

Dad's 65th "Memory" book

I made this book from Scraptures.com June kit. It is "garage days" by Kaisercraft.

I made many tags with places for people to sign.
My dad is a sailor so I printed some related graphics and made them into tags.

I added a few related quotes throughout the book.

The book was a big hit at the party, everyone wrote a little something! I will get it back from my father and now add some pics of the party guests!

Not too busy.

I know it has been awhile since I have updated on here so I figured I would take some time today to do just that. I am again going through reno's at home so I have not had time "get scrappy" all that much. I am sharing a couple layouts I have done over the past few weeks.

This is my oldest daughter the day she had her braces removed. I used a Studio Calico paper for the background and then misc scraps for layers. all the embellishments/mists/stamps came from my stash.
Misc diecuts.

Again, this is my oldest daughter. She's at the age where she does not like having her photo taken but I like that she isn't paying attention to me in this picture. The background paper is BoBunny from the back to basics collection. The cream/black lace paper is Fabscraps, the polka dot was a scrap and I used a dictionary page.

I used a stencil and ink on the background to create the black "rings". The black circles were a different stencil and gel medium which I coloured with ink.
Behind the layers I again used gel medium to adhere natural bakers twine peeking out from behind the photo. The bigger black flowers are Prima canvas mistables. The misc other flowers are just from my stash. I used lace appliques under the flower clusters.

I love these photos of my youngest. She's too cute! :)

The paper line is from Simple Stories. I used a butterfly stencil and Dazzlers in "spun Sugar" to create a background. The clouds and butterflies were fussy cut from the collection.
Gorgeous
collection!

Scrapfest Kitchener 2014 HAUL!

What a busy and amazing two days! My back hurts, my feet hurt, but it was oh so much fun.

As I normally do I will share my haul! I was pretty good this year and did not go overboard. I picked up a few things I had been looking and a few I wasn't!

Yeah, more stencils(cause I really needed more right?). I also picked up this container of silver crackle medium. I can't wait to try it out!

Simple Stories collection packs- "Hey Mom" and "Fresh Air"

"Time for "Spring" from FancyPants and "Times and Seasons 2" by EchoPark (LOVE the colours in this one!)

This is a misc paper pack. I has the perfect papers for doing mixed media layouts. There are 4-5 different companies in there and I love them all!

I have an issue with buying 6x6 pads and not using them much, but really....they are soo pretty. The first one is Teresa Collins "Summer Storyteller"- it has some great colours for cards. The second is Simple Stories "DIY" --love it!!!

Foam squares, itsy bitsy glue dots, orange washi, really cute Maya Road denim trim, a little canister of film and there awesome "Gumdrops" from Your Next Stamp. They are very similar to enamel dots. I like that I could get a whole sheet of the same colour, also the clear ones have glitter in them!

Maya Road metal speech bubbles, KasierCraft "Collectables", love these little diecuts, lots of cameras, speech bubbles, arrows, etc. etc.  Amy Tangerine flair buttons(I am not usually a big fan of these but this pack had great colours in it).  Bella Blvd chipboard sheet in the back, Studio Calico cork hearts and the little tube has some Studio Calico transparent arrows. Lots of goodies in this picture!

I could not leave without these diecut vellum pieces. They were way too perfect for my girls, they are from Crate Papers' "Oh Darling" collection.  The next 3 packs are all from Simple Stories, lots of stickers, tags, icons and tiny alphas.  Can you see the glitter frames??? They are awesome(yes I could probably make them but I am lazy). They are Heidi Swap. Laying down are two sets of transparency overlays, one is SS DIY collection, the other is American Crafts pack which came with 16 and they are coloured summer themed!

So that is pretty much it. My plan was to stay away from paper and concentrate on embellishments,....hmmm, I think I mainly stuck to it!! I can't wait to dig in and play with everything but unfortunately it won't be for awhile as I am sticking to my guns and spring cleaning and moving around rooms. I am hoping it will keep me motivated knowing that when I get the rooms done, I can move my scrap room into a much bigger room!

Scraptures guest designer again!!

Yeah!!!, so I was asked to be guest designer over at Scraptures Kit Club for the month of March.  I have to admit I was super happy about this. I LOVE this months kit. It is made up with paper from Simple Stories "Daily Grind" collection. I love the colours in this collection and that it can be used for "everyday" photos.

I used the "Word Arrows" stencil included in the add-on with some "Very Vanilla" Stampin Up craft ink on the"Flag Blue" cardstock to start off my background.  From there it was easy to piece together this layout with all the goodies included in the kit.

For the top right embellishment cluster I used a 1/2" circle punch to punch out some of the shapes from one of the patterned papers. I then inked the edges and put them on pop dots. The strip behind is cut from another piece of pattern paper and the circle was cut with my 1.5" punch out of the "caramel" card stock.

The bottom right cluster was more punches and pattern paper.

The "extras" around the picture are from pieces cut out from the pattern paper and from the sticker sheet. To top it off I used 3 of the Studio Calico stars. I pressed them into ink pads to add some colour and voila!

I really hope you enjoy this kit as much as I am. I can't wait to get started on the rest of this months challenges!
